A wicked aunt treats her niece badly and favours her three daughters. The niece, called Makaya, gets the help of an old grandmother to go to the ball. The prince falls in love with her, and when she leaves at midnight, leaving her shoe behind, the king’s men do the shoe-fitting test. Makaya is married to the prince, but the wicked aunt pushes a pin into her head and she is transformed into a parrot. The aunt replaces Makaya with her daughter. The parrot haunts the palace until the prince removes the pin from its head and it transforms back into Makaya. The false bride is beheaded and sent to the mother on a platter.
